This Fastpitch Talk Radio Episode is actually a recording of a Live “Hot Seat” Call that I did with Coach Bill Vasko.  Coach Vasko is a DII Softball Coach and offered to field ANY questions that callers and myself could throw at him.

So for just about an hour, we were on the line getting the scoop on:

  • What Coach Vasko looks for in potential recruits
  • How to avoid common mistake players make when contacting college coaches
  • Coach Vasko’s take on sports specialization
  • Practice organization
  • Coaching the mental game
  • How the DII recruiting timeline is different from the DI timeline and why
  • Which Coach Vasko spends more time on (defense vs hitting)
  • …and more

In this episode I share my thoughts on the controversial subject of whether or not a player should play up or stay down? Most of the time it’s also looked at as,

“Should a player choose a more competitive environment with more playing time or an easier level of play with lots of playing time?”

This is an issue where I usually get lots of flack. There are some people who agree with me, but most seem not too. Find out why I feel the way I do in this episode, then leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts and where you stand on this issue.

I do have to ask for your forgiveness before you listen though, I ended up having to record this episode in two different sessions, and before I could record the second session I caught a cold, so I probably sound horrible. If you have trouble understanding what I say in the second portion of the show, please excuse me. I didn’t want to wait until my voice got completely better because then this episode would have been late. I already put off recording that second part of the show for a few days because I sounded even worse earlier.  I apologize in advance if I get a little difficult to understand in the second portion of the show.  Thank you for your understanding!
